It is such a pain to set up a new laptop - and going from Win7 to 8 on top of it.

The other day I turned on my old laptop and got nothing but a light. Fortunately, I'd bought a replacement on woot a few months back. Just hadn't gotten around to setting it up. (The old laptop had made some noises like it was dying but then was OK until the other day.)

I'm SO glad I had an external drive and routinely copied files over to it. I even had a backup program running (which I don't recall setting up) so I have everything through this past Sunday. Now I just have to get it all moved back. Also, there was a backup for password safe so I don't have to reset any. Yay!

Struggled getting mail set up. Glad I have a kindle so I could get mail in the meantime.

Windows 8 isn't hard - it's just very different. I'm getting used to it. But I hate the multiple clicks to shut down.

I still have a lot to do to get full functionality back to where I had it on the old machine. But I'm getting there.

But it's going to be a beautiful day so I'm taking a break from this and getting outside. Need herbicide to get rid of the weeds that have sprouted seemingly overnight between the bricks in my patio.
