I'm pretty sure a flat out refusal to do work results in zero (now that I'm starting to see more details come out other than the articles linked)

and that much of the revision is in the late/makeup work policies and grade weighting, etc. Overall it sounds like a great improvement for, as you said, kids that are trying to not be punished by "math" in how grades are calculated or differences in how classes are assessed between teachers
