pi ~ (2L x n) / (t x h)
L = length of paperclip
n = paperclips dropped
t = distance between the lines
h = paperclips on line
In the set-up, you were asked to make lines twice the length of the paperclip, so t = 2L. This reduces the formula to
pi ~ n / h
