so, the Cliff Notes here for those who need them is that, for some number of months, i've had some significant "discomfort" around my liver and gall bladder. it finally got frequent enough (and I almost dare say painful enough when an 'episode' happens) that I finally went to the doctor. they recommended bloodwork and a CT scan, which happened this past Friday.
now . . . bloodwork . . . my cholesterol is suprisingly low . . . 122, bad stuff is down to 55. this suprised me. i haven't had my cholesterol that low in i don't know how many years. i blame eating more chicken in recent months and not as much red meat. so, i guess i can splurge on a few juicy hamburgers for a few days.
liver and kidney functions were showing okay in the bloodwork, as well as sugar etc. nothing alarming or anyhting there at the moment. Also, my gall bladder seems to be fine, and this surprised me because this was initially what I and the medical folks were thinking was part of the problem going into last week's tests.
now . . . we move from greenlight to yellow light.
the CT scan revealed several kidney stones between both kidneys. this much i already knew. i have a family history, and have had several stones over the years. that i have a couple sitting quiet right now does not surprise me. not to get ahead of myself, but I'll be talking to the Dr. tomorrow and i'll see if i can find out how big these kidney stones are.
now we move from yellow light to (potentially) the red light . . .
I think that the word that they used was "polyps", saying that there were some suspicious evidence around my liver and either 1 or both kidneys (I can't remember if she told me 1 or both). they also said that the CT scan was "inconclusive."
so, i'll be going into the doc's office bright and early tomorrow morning to talk to the doctor, go over the test results more thoroughly (I had called the office today to get the results and basically got the shoestring answer over the phone, which is okay. i wanted to go in to see the doc anyway to go over things as it was, depending on what had been shown). There was a mention of further tests, which is to be expected at this point. we don't know for sure what's going on yet, and I really want to know and get ahead of whatever it is.
to complicate things, i'm supposed to retake my college Comps tests in a few weeks. If this health thing turns up being pretty serious, all of that could get complicated, and I"ll probably have to call and speak to the department head and stuff as soon as I know something and see what needs to be done at some point there. obvie, my health situation needs to take the front seat . . . we'll see what develops and I'll be posting again on this soon, of course.
