In response to "Not to butt in, but three kids. Are you all in the area? My grandmother is 94 and still lives alone." by Spawn

We all live in the area, but it's a little more complicated than that.

Dementia is starting to set in. More for my father than my mother. I sincerely that part of the issue for my father is that they do nothing but sit in the apartment. My mother is essentially unwilling to do almost anything. My father is a guy who worked until he was 86 (he's 89 now) and took classes, played tennis and played the violin up until he retired. But since he retired he just sits at home with my mother. The independent living facility has all sorts of activities that he can get involved in without leaving (including other musicians he can play with). That stimulation would probably help the dementia (some of which also may be depression from feeling the effects of the dementia and having no real purpose). It's not a healthy situation for him where they are. He'll go wherever my mother wants to be and she's pretty much never happy wherever she is. 3 months ago she wanted to move out of the apartment that she so badly wanted to move back to 2 days ago. So we really need to push them on this.
