in all seriousness my future MIL wore a red dress to our wedding.

Her sister told her not to, but I didn't care. She asked me in advance if it was okay and I said 'sure'. I thought she looked great.
However if she had wanted to wear a traditional looking wedding dress I would wonder what was wrong with her.
