is there a mathmatical formula to determine how much physical space a given volume of liquid would take up?

for example, if I wanted to know roughly how much physical space would be taken up by 1,000 gallons of a liquid . . . or, well, on a more simple scale, how much space does 1 gallon of liquid take up? from there, I could always just plug in the numbers and extrapolate . . .
