we have an automatic cloud backup (for laptops, anyway, not sure what's current for desktops); plus, I learned along the way to do my own periodic backup to a personal network drive (and personal files to personal storage) of things I'd really miss.
I am bugged enough about being asked to e-mail that I plan to pursue it with the manager of desktop support, at least.
