I've had numerous ones both personally and at work and have yet to have one that made it to 5 years. Most often they either just stop working or continuously drop the wifi signal after a few years. This also applies to wired routers.
Personally I believe it's because they are running 24/7 and the components wear done, but I have no hard evidence of that.
