My cousin is in an estate battle involving her ex-husband's money, which was left to her (their) kids, along with kids from another woman. And then apparently along comes a recent (measured in months) gf who got a will signed on a deathbed with a very scrawly X, which has given her some claim to the money. While it appears the intent was not to totally screw my cousins, a big chunk of the money is tied up and the gf has gone to every lawyer in the city (it's a small place) to "consult" with for the express purpose of creating conflict of interest so that she wouldn't be able to hire any of them. It seems to me that there are specifically rules against that tactic, but perhaps I'm misinformed. What say you all?
