how she managed to pretty much in book 7 take items that had been throughout the series, give them their own mythology and not have that mythology crumble in on itself.
After book 5, you'd be hard-pressed to see an end-game; but it was all tied up very very nicely.
I get the feeling GRRM has so much in his mythos that there's no reasonable path forward that is satisfying and/or not burdened by tons of loose ends.
