The Night's Watch is about to get swallowed whole. They had their chance to avert catastrophe. They chose to fixate on personality conflicts instead.
The only way I see that changing is if the Red Witch finds her hero, who makes a stand that unites the two acrimonious groups.
The Wall is actually in worse shape than Kings Landing, which is no small feat.
