I have multiple games I'm still playing on the 360. If I bought the One I'd need to back and forth between them or just give up

playing the games. I'm not going to buy them again for the One so having the backwards compatibility makes me much more likely to get a One now.
Also, I play old games all the time but it requires me hooking that system up. I go back and play games on my NES and PS2. I was playing PS2 games over the weekend.
