It's removing a piece of symbolic hatred, proclaiming you've done something significant, while actually doing about the bare minimum as a civilized

society. Instead now of racists looking up at the statehouse for validation of their outdated bigoted views, they'll look to the other racists around them.
Meanwhile, thousands of people will still be shot and killed by weapons people shouldn't possess because those people or those weapons are dangers to society.
