True story, in the mid 90s, a customer at McD's in Central NY bit into a McRib and it tasted terrible.

It was a dead mouse. This is not a rumor. The remains were sent to Cornell Vet for identification, I heard about it at the time. It was a real dead mouse. McD's paid a large sum to settle for this poor guy's emotional distress, which, honestly, was real in this case. This is a large part of the reason why the McRib disappeared from the menu for a long time.
I've tried to find the story online, but man, McD's got lucky with the timing. If you can find a reference to it, last I checked, it was regarded as a rumor. It's not a rumor.
