as long as we're doing personal reports on ourselves this board, here's a couple of updates on my situation . . .

as I reported last week, I do have to retake Comps (yet again) at school in the coming weeks . . . the dept. head emailed me today basically giving me 1 of the ?'s on the test (so if I don't do well on that one, given that I know it in advance and can prepare for it) then I don't deserve to pass ! the other of the 2 ?'s on the comps . . . well, I know in a vague sense what sort of materials it will cover, I just don't know the actual ? . . .

anyway, she asked me when I can come up to retake the test (sort of an open-ended offer for me to tell them when I will retake the test). I have to check my work schedules for the next few weeks to see what I have going on, and from there make plans accordingly to get this test done in the coming month of July. I just have to pass it this time. I don't know what the frack I'm going to do if I don't pass it this time (I'm still sick-pissed at myself for being so close to passing 2 weeks ago . . .)

relatedly, I have hopeful news in the work area . . .

I inquired at a private school about a week and a half ago if they expect to do any new teacher hiring for the pending school year. The headmaster invited me to submit an application and a resume, which I took out to the school this past Monday. It's local, only about 3 miles from where I live, a small school, but apparently well to do. Tuition for 7th / 8th graders, for example at this private school for a year is a shade over 11 grand a year. So, I expect that good teachers get paid pretty well.

anyway, the headmaster was out of town last week, so I waited until yesterday to call for a follow up. Left a message. he emailed me this afternoon asking if I could come by Thursday morning for an interview.

I'm naturally very cautiously optimistic here. but I really hope this thing comes through. I could really use this job.

If I get it, July's going to be a very busy month for me . . . finishing up Comps at school and getting ready to dive headlong into a teaching position.
