Elway for seeking to trade Manning and Houston for not jumping on a deal given they're starting Tom Savage and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
I wouldn't doubt that Denver and them did something like, "Hey, we'll give you Peyton for....everything." "No thanks." "Sure?" "Yeah." "Cool."
He's an aging qb who fading with 1-2 years left at most...so why not try to see if you can get a sucker to bite before he leaves you with nothing?
It's not ever likely to go anywhere, but I'd say if you're a GM and you're not at least kicking aruond every player on your roster, you're not doing your job; especially in the NFL where player/team loyalty is a non-entity.
