I agree with the first sentence of your IM. Not sure about Sec. Clinton though. And Carly Fiorina could benefit with a carefully crafted message. -- (edited)

I don't see this ruling doing much for her one way or the other. If anything, it gives Bernie Sanders a boost because his campaign has been putting out the message of "Bernie was there from the beginning."

Sec. Clinton hasn't always been such a good supporter of gay marriage.

This might present an opportunity for Carly Fiorina to distinguish herself from the other 15 GOP candidates. She hasn't taken a firm, clear position on gay marriage other than saying it should be left up to the states, which is a consistent conservative position across that end of the spectrum.
