I remember election day 2004 was a very depressing day for me.

Sure, I was not a fan of George W. Bush, but his victory was something that I could deal with. What was depressing was that there were also 10 state referenda passed to ban gay marriage including the liberal state of Oregon. Also depressing was how well and easily Republicans were able use gay marriage as a wedge issue.

It's amazing that in just a little more than a decade gay marriage is now legal in all 50 states.
