This is my thought, too. But the text seems to say it relates specifically to "live performances".

The question is: is the author right about the performances having to be *future* performances.

Then we must ask: what qualifies as a live performance? Showing up on Kimmel or Fallon? The Daryl Hall show? The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony? Or an actual concert tour?
