Yes, the satellite was in full data gathering mode during the flyby so couldn't communicate.

The signal received today at 8:30PM Eastern confirmed that the probe didn't die during the flyby. Not like it was expected to, but it was inside the realm of possibility.
Now begins the 16-month process of transmitting 40GB of data at ~1-4kbps
