I've done it mostly because I can remote my machine from work and it is about as an AFK activity there is in the game so it lets me have 3 accounts to play when I actually sit down

The industry/market/trading side of the game can easily make you billions/wk from doing almost nothing in game other than moving materials, managing production queues, and market orders. Much less time invested.

Of course you have to have money to make money so it does take a little time to get the whole thing rolling.
