I remember being a very little kid and asking my mom this, then pursuing it later. somewhere else, it's said that a day was 1000 years..

and then there's something else that leads to thinking that g-d could do the creating fast but not the evolution and natural course of things He created, and that's what took lengthier time. "it's just a story."
(my mom did not give me a satisfactory answer. I'm still waiting for one for "but what came *before*?" ;) - yahyah, continuum, whatever.)
