The point as I understand it being: there are more acceptable uses of that time for a married person with kids than a single person.

technically? yeah. but that speaks more to why having a "sick days" benefit is inherently dicier than a PTO system.

Well, technically, they don't have the right to more than one "family leave" type day per year according to Manitoba labour law, so no, they are not..

Those that abuse the "leave" days makes it really difficult for those who don't to turn a blind eye.
