Tech question. I got a new computer last week. I was trying to partition the HDD this weekend but had some issues.

It's a 2 TB drive. When I went in to disk management I was only able to split the drive in half. I really don't need that much space for my C: since all I put on there are my program files. I feel like I'm wasting a lot of space. Is this a Windows 8.1 limitation and is there any software that you would recommend?

Assuming your C: was the entire disk, you can't really re-partition it easily because it is your system drive. That kind of thing is best done pre- - oblique Jul 21, 08:31 7

  - yeah, they give you everything on C: because it's generally a PITA to manage partitions. Folders do that job w/o limiting your space -- nm - oblique Jul 21, 08:38 3
    - I had my old computer for 10 years or so. I had my drive partitioned and had maybe 100 GB for my C:. Never needed more space than that. - sycor Jul 21, 08:41 2

        exactly and unless you plan to upgrade/replace the OS regularly it really doesn't make any sense to partition -- nm - decline Jul 21, 08:47
