A man says something to Nathan.

Me: Nathan, can you say hello to the man?
Him: I'm not a man. I'm a Marine. Vietnam. *keeps talking*
Me: oh. Nathan, say hello to the Marine. He's a soldier.
Him: *snippy* you don't refer to us as soldiers. We are Marines! My father fought under yada yada yada yada
Me: I'm sorry. I didn't know proper terminology. I was just trying to have my son be polite when you were talking to him.
Him: *keeps telling me about proper terminology, acting offended*

Luckily the transaction ended then and we left quickly.
Seriously buddy, I was just trying to make sure my child was polite when you were speaking to him.
