I resorted to using liners (with draw strings) - just made it easier and cleaner -- nm

These cats like to fling litter all over. We got a covered box and that fixed the mess. -- nm

I swore by the tidy cat version of them - they were thick enough that they'd just get scratched a bit (plus I kept my girls' nails trimmed ok). -- (edited)

Our cats claws get pretty sharp. It's still a pain to get them to the nail trimmer (they are still too new to trust us to do it ourselves)
