Ed McMahon was on a talk show (I actually saw this) and said that when he was young he worked in the day in a steel mill and at night at a radio station (on air).

he noticed that during the day he swore like a sailor and at night not at all.

he asked himself why he did this and so vowed not to swear any more.

he later fought for the Marines during World War II and managed to not swear at all.

I said to myself, if he can fight a war without swearing, why would I need to when I'm not in combat? Although I hadn't been much of a curser I managed to cut down a lot after hearing his story
