Things have gotten considerably better in the last couple of hours. I've done upgrades before but never like this.

It was as if the computer felt like it was going into shock, and little by little, finally has started to recover.
I've not been able to test everything, of course, but I'm a lot further along than stalled out, so this is a very good thing.
