In a manner, I think the shock over Palin's world knowledge was the early warning signal for conservative political operatives.

These are your people. And this is what they sound like. This one has actually successfully run for office knowing exactly this much about the world around her. You're positioning her a heart attack away from ruling the most dangerous country in history.
