from bb, miles teller comes across way better in that "esquire" piece than the writer does. egad. -- (edited)

he comes off as a somewhat cocky/*maybe*-jerkishy-sometimes but sometimes self-deprecating to counter kinda young guy. (not far at all from how he was in "spectacular now" - watching that last week has it fresh in my mind.)

she comes across as a judgy, pretentious, forcing-tension, can't-follow-her-own-plot person/writer.

if she'd just written what he said, framing it without her comments, she would have made her point much better than unsuccessfully (and sometimes inaccurately, even with her own examples) trying to slam us in the face with it.

nothing there doesn't make me want to see more of him, but the piece makes me not want to read anything else from her.

ugh.
