Yay! Hotel pool all to myself! (If you don't count the water spider I fished out.). Ok some Chicago Pizza thoughts inside:

First - I don't think our pizza last night showcased Chicago Style's best. We were hungry & it was good, but I'm sure that pizza didn't represent. Spamlet - it was NOT the Gior how ever you spell it Pizza I keep seeing on billboards around town. (I swear if they have a food truck anywhere in sight today, I'm getting a slice!)
Second - MY pizza last night was a good example of the problem with Chicago Pizza. If you don't know the shop, there's no way to know how they are about making your pie as to ingredients - you can't really tell by looks whether the ingredients are good or not - plentiful or not - because they aren't on top! (By looks I mean - of other people's pizza's going by or at the next table)
While we waited I talked with a guy from Ohio that sang the praises of the place we were at - he comes every time he visits. I probably should have gone with his topping suggestion, instead I ordered a small (6 slices - MAYBE 10" diameter) stuffed withpepperoni, onions, fresh mushrooms, green olives & garlic. The stuffings were hardly detectable for the cheese (which was good cheese - bit over powered what little they put on the inside) - and I ate 2 slices and was full - but that pie creation was $16.50 & $2.25 per ingredient choice and took well over an hour to arrive at the table. (they discounted our bill for how long it took & brought choco chip cookies with our bill to also say "sorry" - they just were not on their game imho - young inexperienced wait staff & prolly a prima donna chef in the back who wasn't going to be "rushed").
Now - keeping in mind - my alcohol consumption to that time included a 3pm ish Old Fashioned at Miller's Pub witha greek salad (which was AWESOME by the way) - then 2 frozen Tiki drinks - which didn't really freeze (not surprising for the HEAVY alcohol!) - they kicked my ass and I am not a lightweight in ANY sense of the word!!! Then at the pizza resto, I had a nice Founder's IPA draft. This all in about a 6 hour stretch? So I COULD have been a little off in my epicurian evaluation ... but not by much I think.
Lastly, that pizza and service could have been the WORST ever and I still would have had a BLAST because of the ST company that showed up ... SO much FUN!!!
Kudos too to Diva on the Tiki bar choice - it was MOST excellent!
