It's a false narrative that Obama had not shot to win the Presidency; he just wasn't expected to win it in 2008. His time was 2012 or 2016.

Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders are never going to win the Presidency or the nomination. Their ideology leads to fervent supporters who share that ideology (mainly because they're the only people espousing it on the big stage), but it's a minority ideology.
