Just because you didn't cause slavery or poverty doesn't mean you don't indirectly benefit from it or that other people aren't harmed by it.

You don't have to wear sackclothes and ashes, but you can at least recognize that you are getting a benefit that others didn't get and understand how that colors your view on the world.
