But here's the thing...having that appreciation and recognizing that you have a benefit that others don't have isn't enough anymore.

You can have all the appreciation and recognition in the world and if that screaming guy on the train had decided to start shooting...it wouldn't make even 1 tiny bit of difference that you understand and are actually on that guy's side.

This is what I had to deal with for a month or more last year and now have to face again right now.

Whether I understand and recognize or not...I'm not immune from the violence and looting and civil disobedience bullshit that's going on in my town.
