I tend to think we also risk losing the rich diversity (of culture, race, income, experience) and turn cities into rich white playgrounds. -- (edited)

And I tend to think we all lose something from that.

(I say this with full awareness that I lived in a Chicago neighborhood that was just turning the tide into full-on gentrification, and was therefore a causal part of it. And with full awareness that I now live in an NYC neighborhood that gentrified maybe a decade to 15 years ago.)
