It might be easier if this case was one that ended up being a gray area, or easily rallied around.

All the evidence is that Michael Brown led to his own death via his actions...that's tough to sell continued outrage when people can see the result.

whereas the guy in SC shot in the back or in Cincinnati, or the guy choked in NYC...those cases are far easier to sell to most law-abiding people as a failing on the part of the cops.

That's not to say there's not systemic abuses in Ferguson (and many other places), but this movement has picked as its public face, a bad one. That, and then the looters undermine the very valid things being sold as societal improvements.
