Except the "types" were never that easily split. Boys had GI Joe and girls had Barbie, but they are both dolls.

Ditto just about every other toy type.
The divide was more pernicious: Boys toys are about building, construction, racing, flying, superheroes, soldiers. Girl's toys are about nurturing, caregiving, shopping, cooking, fashion.
Those are all gender biases not reflected by reality.
