In response to
"
for sure. But Toys R Us has, for as long as I remember, segregated the toys in their stores.

because it's a division that is totally unnecessary. when we were kids, there were 'toy stores', we picked what we wanted. it wasn't coded by gender

it's not like removing it complicates things, it simplifies them.
simplicity is good.

We are about the same age and I never remember a toy store that was NOT divided by gender. -- nm

Yes. Bikes, for instance, don't have a boys section in a separate area from a girls section

I don't think toy stores have ever been that blatant. But "the pink aisle" or aisles were where you'd find all the "not appropriate for boys who wish

And Target still will be. It simply won't say "boys" or "girls" on the aisles. -- nm

It doesn't say "boys" and "girls" now. I think this change *is* more about eliminating the "pink" aisles and "blue" aisles and

Weird. I wonder if that is universally used in Targets, because I do not recall seeing that in my Target

Thinking about the last time I went into a TRU, I don't remember any labels on the aisles at all. -- nm

I thought you were arguing against the division of toys, not the label. IMO, the label is silly, the division is just common sense. -- nm

i am just saying, when i was a kid, and i was in the Star Wars aisle, it was about Star Wars, not about 'boys'.

we don't have Target, i don't know. But i don't know why all Lego can't be together, or all Figurative Human Things (aka dolls) can't be together.

I just like being able to run into the store looking for a present, and being able to decide which 3 aisles I need to look in.

I think the point is that that desire to find the "right" aisle is driven by gender biases that need to be ended. -- nm

I think it's driven by the fact that the overwhelming majority of kids who buy toys in the boys aisle are boys.
