that's an odd one. i *vividly* remember the scene with the phone calls, but, i rented the original movie a couple years ago

and i remembered NOTHING about the whole story - nothing rang a bell at all. but i remembered the very beginning and the very end.
i must have seen some tv-edited version of it when i was a kid, because there was no way i saw it at a theatre.
