The argument for not talking to the Taliban leadership is that they are steadfast in their desires and implaccable in their attitudes.

That makes sense.

But WE have had what looks to me like a *We're right and you're wrong, so be like us or die* attitude. So we have been just like their leadership.

If we have changed, negotiate away.
