otto's: used to be great. now volume-based and bland. also beer is no longer fab (except apricot wheat which is admittedly dreamy)
faccia luna: right up the street from my house. actually pretty amazing when it's good. and usually edible when it's bad. but consistency is an issue. (incredible olives. get olives on your pizza.)
HVBC: mediocre beer (they're still learning). very full of itself. HUGE portions. like, split an entree three ways and it's probs okay. makes me sad about how fat we all are.
waffle shop: you could easily make better at home. no standouts. service is *terrible.*
saints cafe: really good coffee actually. but too small and poorly laid out for the volume it does. lines are always long. baristas are dumb as rocks and almost as rude as waffle shop employees.
kelly's: smells so bad I will never go there again ever. have not eaten there in years. walked in recently looking for a happy hour venue. almost gagged.
ASG: food is expensive but okay. beer selection is bad, but taps are nice and clean. great view. BUT! piano bar! sometimes I just want to sit and talk. please be quiet.
margarita's: I have not been, but have heard great things. I will go next week one day for dinner and report back. I hear the crust esp is amazing.
bill pickle's: so, so fratty. has country line dancing night. bathrooms stench like crazy. service is polite but sooooooooooo slow.
duffy's: I love duffy's; have never had a bad time there. all of my friends have horror stories and refuse to go. terrible beer selection. great ambience.
local whiskey: best adult bar in state college hands down. they know me by name there. very limited menu. bad beer selection. lovely ambience considering its downtown. great whiskey selection.
tavern: love their bar (again, great ambience for downtown; crap beer selection, crap whiskey selection) but the food is atrocious. like, mushy and off white and the wrong shade of green. do not want food. has amazing fireplace. no wifi which is nice.
herwig's: if I wanted to be treated like shit, I would start dating again. worst, rudest service ever. they think they're being so cute and kitschy, but really they are losing adult customers left and right.
