oh yah, I'm not opposed to the conversation at all, it just bums me out to see small things blow-up when there are huge things that get less attention

I know part of that is because people feel they can have more impact on smaller ones, but I just wish things could be different. like we really can pay attention to more than one thing at once.
for me, twitter can be a launching point for bigger discussions. often there will be news stories and blog entries and such that refer to twitter as being the start of a conversation or movement.
re: the beer thing, both that one and it being ok to pinch anyone not "up for whatever" that was posted with a photo of women.
