for me, their saying (among other things) that grains and legumes are bad is a thing. -- (edited)

processed foods, sugar, maybe even dairy - sure, limit away.

when you get down to being so very restrictive with other things, when there isn't any good evidence (except for, like, the calorie restricting that can naturally go along with it), more than just promoting simple healthier eating is going on there.

edited to add: those many restrictions can also make it harder to follow long-term, for various reasons, for many people.
