You sound like you aren't ready. I pulled down my site many times when I got burned out on dating.

Then I would get lonely and put it back up again. I liked some sites better than others. It was a lot of work, joy, sadness, highs and lows but ultimately I found the best thing to ever happen to me on Plentyoffish
But, it's not for everyone. I am glad I kept fighting the fight.
Also I have several friends I met along the way that weren't meant to be my wife, but are awesome at being good friends.
