Yeah - you can't waste your 20s. And sure, people are getting married later and having children later, which means less need to save, but they're also

under greater long-term financial pressure - property prices are a lot higher relative to income than they were a generation ago, retirement funds are more determined by how much you put in than how much your employer says you'll pay, medical costs are way more expensive and less likely to be covered, etc
