Your smugness fails you. The analog is valid. Going to Toronto and craving poutine is like going to New York and craving barbecue.

Sure, they'll have poutine. Maybe even better poutine that in the boonies. I've got a bar here in town that serves poutine. But poutine and Toronto go together like barbecue and New York. You can find it. It can even be very going, made authentically from someone who's originally from the place of origin. Pailla in Boston. Bratwurst in Sacramento. But it's not from there.
