Answering your B2 question, I think Biden takes from both

A substantial # of Hillary supporters are just there because she's the only horse in the race (and who understand Bernie has neither the politics nor the organization to be the nominee).
On the other side, a number of Sanders's supporters are the anti-Hillary people--or people who simply don't like the idea of a coronation.
Biden draws heavily from both of those constituencies, and if it plays out as I think it might with POTUS's endorsement (whether overt or wink-nod), Biden has a real chance.
The part that everybody should be happy with is that Biden turns the DNC race into an actual race. I'm sure Hillary's people hate the idea, but our system is better off when people have an actual choice.
