A 2nd (or maybe 3rd?) gen Core i7 is outpacing a current gen Core i5. Given this data, I'd suggest just reformatting the computer and installing Windows 10. Like tablets, Windows 10 now has a "factory restore" feature, so in the future if you want to reformat, it's going to be a lot easier.
