Phoenix - about a Jewish camp survivor who returns Berlin after getting plastic surgery. She finds her ex-husband (who sent her to the camp and then divorced her) and pretends to be a different woman. They cook up a scheme to get her inheritance by having her "pretend" to be the dead wife. Part of the scheme depends on her friends recognizing her as the dead woman. Some how that happens but it doesn't occur to the ex-husband that this could be his ex wife.
It wants to be a Hitchcock film but it falls down hard. "Johnny", the ex-husband, is the dumbest guy in Berlin. His wife changes her face just enough and he doesn't recognize her but her friends rush up to her and immediately recognize her.
Grandma was a much better movie. A bit trite and predictable but really well done and greatly acted.
